Hey Dr. Graham! I've got a really bad varicose vein on the back of my right calf. I believe it might be the Posterior Tibial vein. I am not sure how I got it, it's been there for quite a while, I suspect it might have been damaged during a knee operation about 10 years ago, but I'm not sure. Could it be caused by the poor diet I used to eat? It's not really painful or inflamed or anything, but it looks really bad (I dont care about "how it looks", but I'm just saying, it worries me) especially after running. It looks like it's gradually getting worse over time as well. I think there's one damaged valve, and I guess more could get damaged over time as the blood keeps backflooding and expanding the vein further. My question is really this: Do you know of any ways of "fixing this problem"? I can see two ways possibly; 1. Will the body be able to heal this and build a new valve through fasting? 2. Are there any constructive surgery availiable that would not create more damage than it repairs? Any other ideas? Info: I'm 27 years old, been 811rv for 2 years now, before that vegetarian for 4-5 years, been fairly active all my life, seen this problem getting worse over the last 10 years. Thanks Doug!
