thank you for your time, dr d. we live in malaysia, the tropics :-), and intend to buy land in the country. we went to see three pieces of land yesterday and found one which we liked very much. let me describe it briefly. the land is 5 acres. there is a creek next to the land. at one end, there is a small hill, about 50m high, with a steep slope near the peak but slopes gently at the foothill and the rest of the land to the other end. at the moment, the land is being used to grow rubber trees, which is what concerns me the most. since rubber trees are not food crops, i'm assuming the agricultural chemicals being used are more hazardous than the ones being used for food crops. so i'm concerned about the chemicals residue in the soil. hearing you say "you can build your own soil" is very encouraging. if you were in my position, what would you do, dr d? thank you.
