Thank you so much for your reply, and for reading my long post!

I really do feel like I'm ready to fast, no matter what. Do you hold the
fasting retreat in Costa Rica only once per year?

Right now my "story" is that I don't have the time or money for
supervised fasting, since I am in school, going to start working this
summer and paying off loans, and who knows when I will be in a place
to do a long fast.

But I do know that true health takes time, and in this world it can take
some money, I am well aware of these things. And now for me I guess
it is a question of whether I want to wait a significant period of time to
be able to fast. I would certainly enter into fasting now if it were a
feasible option for me right now. Now I'm thinking maybe I could
somehow be able to make it happen for next year? That would be
really fantastic. Though it could well be longer that I'd have to wait
depending on the stability of my situation, time off, etc.

The surgery option has been attractive to me because I've been in pain
so long that I would just like to be done with it, especially if it may not
be resolved with fasting, and especially if I would not be able to fast
for at least a year from now, if not more. Then I could get on with life,
and eventually do a long supervised fast for general health. (Also, I
have health insurance right now, and I have many resources available
to me at the eye center at which I study. It's almost like this option is
throwing itself at me right now!).

So now it seems it is a question of how much longer I am willing to
wait with the pain, which is certainly up in the air as far as how long it
will be. But I am working on imagining opportunities rater than

Thank you very much for your input, it is helping me a lot with these
