Subject:         Your Thoughts On Cumin Seeds?

Hi.

I have been eating 80/10/10 for about 6 months, and trying to keep my recipes very simple.

However, last night I tried making a somewhat more complicated salad topping/dressing.

It consisted of two juicy fresh-harvested beets, one orange, a bit of slightly-dehydrated celery, some fresh celery, and about a tablespoon of cumin seeds.

I ground up all of these elements in a vitamix.

I have never before included any dried spices like cumin, and I found it greatly enhanced my enjoyment of my salad.

So much so that, to be honest, I'd love to include it every night of the week, and perhaps experiment with other spices.

But I wonder what you think of using these sort of dried herbs/spices.

1) Can I safely assume that the cumin seeds I brought in the grocery store are not raw?
2) Would you consider adding cumin to your recipes? Is it safe to do so regularly?
3) Is there any place to get raw cumin seeds? Any suggestions?

Any thoughts on the use of cumin and other ground spices would be greatly appreciated.
