I have often read that veggies should be eaten after fruit, because fruit leaves the stomach quicker than veggies [and therefore you do want the veggies holding up the fruit, for fear of fermentation]. Question: Is this true for NON-STARCHY veggies like celery and lettuce? What EVIDENCE is there that fruit leaves the stomach any sooner than non-starchy veggies? I ask, because I typically prefer to eat my celery and/or lettuce first, and have never noticed any problem(s).
