I'm one of those who have had a very bad reaction to overripe canistel. It was severe & sudden & I was overcome with weakness & felt faint. Fortunately I was able to immediately evacuate & that alleviated my acute symptoms. I refused to eat it again after that. Prior to that, I had eaten canistel over the years, always organic, mostly always with the skins (unless very bruised or unusually tough) without any issues other than the awareness of its heaviness & inability to consume much. It's the densest fruit I know of, more dense than mamey & it's best to eat sparingly.
