Deficiencies can arise from a variety of causes, and my approach always includes elimination of those causes where possible. Typically, B12 deficiency results from extended experiences of extreme stress, rather than dietary factors. Have you lost weight during these years? If so, you were undoubtedly malnourished beforehand, and have under-consumed sufficient amino acids during the weight loss times as well. This can lead to problems. Iron deficiency is also often related to high stress. 8 years on 811 is impressive, considering that the book was only released 6 years ago. First and foremost is to regain your health. That may be as simple as the consumption of a few supplemental nutrients. Once you have rebuilt your nutritional status, the most critical issue is to look at your lifestyle, and create a program for yourself that will not once again lead to deficiency. Eating meat has been shown ineffective in eliminating B12 deficiency, yet doctors and nutritionists still hold on to the myth that eating meat will be valuable. Build your health through lifestyle management. What would you say are the strengths and weaknesses of your lifestyle?
