Hi Dr. Graham,

I am a 42 year old woman who had a complete hysterectomy 6 months ago, and am on a topical estrogen gel (Divigel) as hormone therapy. I very much want to discontinue use of this gel as the side effects of it (and all the HRT I have tried) make me feel worse about myself and my body. Since beginning a mostly raw food diet about 2.5 months ago(to try to heal from urticaria and a weakened (possibly damaged) digestive system) I have noticed that my "menopausal" symptoms have reduced significantly without the need for my prescribed amount of estrogen gel. I'm supposed to be using 1mg a day and I've been using 1mg per 7-10 days without many of the hot flashes, acne, moodiness, weight gain, etc. that I used to get. My GYN says not taking the HRT as prescribed is detrimental to my overall health and well-being, but I've done the research and I don't like the long-term side effects of HRT.

My question is this ... am I harming my body not taking the prescribed HRT, and am I crazy for thinking I can eat a 80-10-10 diet as an alternative to HRT? My digestion is still a mess and my urticaria has not diminished yet, so the last thing I want to do is add on another health issue by not using necessary medicine, but I truly wonder if this IS necessary. In my head it seems simple ... slowly cut down the medication as I feel better until I can completely eliminate it, but my doctors don't believe a raw vegan diet will benefit my health where my body's need for estrogen is concerned. Do you have any thoughts on this? I tried to research anyone having luck with completely eliminating HRT by adopting a LFRV lifestyle, but I didn't find anyone. I'm willing to be a guinea pig and try any suggestions you may have in an effort to help me, and anyone else struggling with the effects of HRT.

Thank you so much for reading this and I do hope to hear from you soon. You're such an inspiration to me, as are many of your followers ... I'm in complete awe of what you all have accomplished with this lifestyle. :)

Love and light,
T-
