Hi, although this seems to be an unpopular point of view, there is such a thing as too much fruit sugar. This has been my experience for many years struggling with the 811 diet. I become ideologically enthusiastic when I read about others living on a high fruit diet. I begin to believe my negative symptoms are some kind of purification and rebalancing of the body. But it simply does not work for me. It does not sustain, and does not promote a feeling of groundedness and strength. One orientation to health diagnosis I have come to deeply appreciate is Ayurveda. Ayurveda assesses one's unique constitution, and on that basis a diet is formulated. Ayurveda is sophisticated, developed over thousands of years and has great wisdom. The one diet fits everyone model is idealistic and naive (like myself!) and can be harmful to those who believe it to the exclusion of the body telling you in no uncertain terms that high fruit is not optimal for you. Every once in a while I will read something about high fruit and experiment again only to experience again that it doesn't work well for me. Those who prescribe it are not wrong, they prescribe it based on it working for them, and that's a beautiful thing. But like everything else in life, there is no such thing as one size fits all. Everyone is unique, and is required to go through an ordeal of trial and error that may take many years until one discovers what truly works well for their body. Some folks can follow the program and seemingly do well for a while, but listening to your body - beyond cravings, patterns of habit, ideas of what is right, books you've read etc etc - is a creative and demanding task everyone must endure to discover how their body works optimally. It requires great education, and also total ignorance beyond thought so we may truly feel the body's real requirements. All the best to everyone on their journey. xxx
