Hi Feather,
I feel like I can speak a bit about cellulite since I have been plagued with it since the age of 8 when I went through precocious puberty and have been trying to balance my body ever since! (28 now) Since you mentioned that you were a runner before, I imagine that the cellulite will go away or dramatically reduce when you get back to running. I do not know what the physiology of it all is, but I know that running and swimming (not even cycling really) have been the only activities that have significantly reduced cellulite for me (along with low fat in diet too). I think some of us do have slower lymphatic systems than others for reasons I dont know (although I think genetics plays into it cause I see it in women in my family too) and in order to get out that toxic waste that ends up being cellulite you really have to SWEAT! daily to get rid of it. Back many years ago I did Bikram yoga and that go rid of my cellulite super fast, but it also chronically dehydrated me and made me loopy in the head, so I quit and do not recommend Bikram now, but I do think that the experiment indicated that it was something in the sweating/lymphatic pumping that effected this type of fat differently that overall body fat, although these activities reduce this as well. I am about your height, but weigh a good deal more, and still have less cellulite than when I was thinner from sweating more frequently. If you can run yet can you get somewhere to swim laps or do steep hill walks?
