Likely they were "rushed" to the marketplace, in order to take advantage of the higher prices the farmers can get if they sell early in the season. So, you get a greater percentage of "bad" ones when you buy really early in the season. The season will be peaking over the next few weeks. Take advantage of the lower prices, which will be accompanied by higher quality fruits, strangely enough. Enjoy.
