To get B12 it would be better to take the supplement; getting B12 from meat requires strong stomach acid (that you likely not have) in order to detach the B12 from the protein that it is bound to, to make it usable. Supplements contain already usable B12. Any supplement that is high enough in B12 (i.e. 1mg) will do the trick irrespective of intrinsic factor. Normally (in case the adsorption is not impaired by some means), several small (i.e. 3-4mcg) doses throughout the day would be best. Why you would lose hair is difficult to tell, too many possibilities: i.e. from iron to thyroid (in general: definciencies), stress. Use the search..
