Please don't listen to this idiot above. Building muscle has to do with a lot more than getting sufficient calories. Protein is vital. I lived like you're proposing to for over a year and lost a LOT of muscle mass and became skinny fat, dropped to 135 lbs at 5'11", doing primarily bodyweight exercises like pullups. I then switched to higher protein, and doing THE EXACT SAME THING I went up to 170 lbs within 6 months, while my bodyfat dropped, and I feel much, much better. So do your experiment if you want, and listen to the fools who say protein is irrelevant, but when you lose strength and wither away just know that adding protein WILL make a difference, whatever dogmatic anti-science 811ers say to the contrary.
