Thanks for the response Dr. Graham, I’m just wondering what is the evidence, because I like many people really love coconut and if there is no darn reason to cut way down then why should anyone do so? I’m sorry to be a stickler, I’m really a huge fan but you as a leader have put yourself in a position where people are going to stickle. You have presented coconut oil not as ‘health neutral’ but rather as ‘health hazard’, and so naturally it is your responsibility to give evidence. I’m asking if you can tell me what medical evidence is there at all of any harm at all in up to a bit over 30% of calories from coconut fat (natural non-hydrogenated)? Many people in the Far East fit exactly that caloric profile and they evidently suffer no detriments, including no insulin resistance, and rather experience several direct health benefits. I was hoping you could cite medical studies in defense of your opinion. I've read peer-reviewed studies published in the international journals which find that coconut oil (66% medium chain fatty acids) does not contribute to insulin resistance at the traditional dietary levels of many cultures, which is up to about 30% caloric intake. Your generalized warning in your response about ‘dietary fat’ seems to obfuscate the difference between fats, we all know what lard or sunflower oil or olive oil can do for insulin. But evidently, not all dietary fats contribute to insulin resistance or cellular energy depletion even at a higher level of caloric intake, and that is the important point I’m trying to make. I think we should always be refining and tweaking our position according to the evidence. Thanks for the response Dr. Graham,
