I'm one of those who goes to the grocery store most days. I kinda know what I want to eat for the next day or so...& the store often shows me by what it has available. Sometimes I get fruits (like cantaloupe) which may not be ripe yet...so I watch & wait over the next few days. Other fruits, like grapes & tomatoes for example, need to be eaten pretty quickly so I wouldn't buy more of them than I'll eat in a day or two.

I am in & out of the grocery store in 10-15 minutes. No big deal. It's become a daily ritual. :)

I usually have 20-30 bananas at home w/ usually 1/2 or more ripe & ready to go. They, along w/ dates are my staples. I can get 1/2 or more of my calories from them most days.

You'll develop a way that works for you.
