From the situation you are describing, I'd bring my food in a box, a large lunch box. Bananas become easy to carry, as do celery lettuce and cucumber. I enjoy bringing a large container of a pre-made shake when in such situations, so I can just drink as needed. Dates, figs, bananas, or whatever you want could be in the shake.
