| Subject: | Black stains on teeth-will they ever go on their own? |

Hi Doug,
I would be so grateful if you could shed any light on the following;
I've had persistant black stains (look like little black spots up close) on almost all my teeth, particuarly the front and side teeth, since starting this lifestyle, which I'm now 100% in.
I've been to the dentist three times to have this black cleaned off (scale & polish)over the last 2-3 yrs. However, within days/weeks the black has started to return and is back to its worst within a few months.
I would have gone more reguarly to have it cleaned off, but don't want to risk damaging my teeth, as I've had lots of teeth problems since I embarked on 811. I came from a background of no teeth problems, but understand problems can surface from previous lifefstyle and have listened/read your views on teeth health etc. I have yet to find a way of keeping my teeth free from this black myself, which is highly embarassing and means I have to be conscious of not opening my mouth when I smile at people and feel v.self conscious about my teeth, which I use to feel very comfortable with.
My dentist said it is a due to a type of bacteria, which thrive in a clean mouth. I use ecodent (a tiny amount) and only brush softly at night and rinse with water in the morning. Sometimes I only brush with water. I monomeal during the day (2-3 fruit meals) and rinse with water after each meal, then have a salad in the evening. I don't graze.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Darcy
