Subject:	Fasting & medication (Dr. Graham)

Hi Dr. Graham,

My dad is thinking about fasting with me in September and had a question about
his medication.

He was diagnosed with a fast growing prostate cancer last year and went to
Loma Linda for their Proton Pump treatment and has been on a time released
hormone therapy (Lupron) ever since and is supposed to remain on it for a total
of two years.

He's wondering how fasting will affect the hormones in his body since he gets a
shot twice a year and it's time released. Will the body flush them all out during
fasting? Is there any downside to fasting while on hormone treatment? Should he
wait until the hormones are out of his system before fasting?

We're also wondering how fasting works with people on other medications like
my mom who has been on prednisone for 2 years for severe pain from
polymyalgia rhuematica and my sister who is on antidepressants & pain meds.
Do they go off them the day they start their fast or do you wean people?
