I've been on a high-fat raw vegan diet for a few months now. I've also just
started reading 80/10/10 and have switched in the last week to a low-fat raw
vegan diet. My mother got sick 2 weeks ago and just 2 days ago I have gotten a
nasal drip, increased phlegm and a dry cough. I'm trying to not make the issue
any worse. My mother was sick and bed-ridden for 9 days and I simply don't
have the means to stay home/rest for more than a day or two.
Am I getting sick because of the switch? How can I improve my immune system
to kick this sickness before it gets worse (fever, weezing cough etc...)? What are
the best remedies when you have the flu?
I have been known to get sick VERY often (3 times a year) and I know I need to
make a HUGE shift in my diet.
I also, have been eating a lot of fruits that are local and fresh but are NOT
organic. I'm a little worried about that. But it's hard to find local fruits and
veggies that are organic. All the farmers markets I have been to have NO
produce that is organic and unfortunately, it's the most cost effective way to eat.
Also, the "organic" (I don't know what they REALLY mean by organic) are usually
imported, not very fresh/ripe and often don't contain seeds (like seedless
grapes), which worries me. I don't know what is the lesser of two evils, fresh
non-organic fruit, or unripe organic fruit.
please HELP!
