You are up against the generally accepted medical model of disease. Your family members do not understand that the body can heal itself, so they will fight you. In their minds, the patient needs medical intervention, not lifestyle intervention. I think that talking to them will probably be a waste of time. But the patient may listen, as it is his own life that is at stake.
