I have been on and off 811RV for the past 2 years. I was vegan for 5 yrs before transitioning. I believe I'm done going back to cooked vegan foods as of yesterday (8/1/12).

I strongly believe that if I'm going to work so hard at reaching my optimal health, the least I can do is share it with another human being in the form of: blood and platelet donation, organ donation, bone marrow, etc.

The problem I'm having now is my iron is too low to donate blood or platelets and it's bothering me. Your iron level must be at least 12.5 to donate.

Here's the history:

12/23/11 - Donate Platelet - Denied (low iron = 9)
3/15/12 - Donate Blood - Accepted (borderline iron = 12.5)
5/17/12 - Donate Blood - Denied (low iron = 10)

After this visit, I decided to take an 25mg iron supplement. I make sure to take it with a fruit which contains Vitamin C.
So, on

7/29/12 - Donate Platelets - Denied (low iron = 11.8)

It came up, but enough to be accepted.

I also eat at least 8oz of greens (spinach, kale, romaine) every day, organic raisins every day and dried mangoes at least once a week. I don't know what else to do.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
