I would imagine that naturally occurring waters should be fine. I sometimes drink naturally carbonated spring waters such as Ferarelle. But I do not drink it very often, as most of the water we should be consuming is much lower in minerals and is filtered by a different process. Distilled water (rain, dew) and spring water are what I stick to most of the time for hydration. As for diabetes or any other disease, a hygienic diet cannot cure anything, the body must be provided with the conditions necessary to maintain an optimal state of health. The body heals itself. The level of health is limited by past environmental conditions, since you are your past environment. For instance, for an embryo in the womb, the mother is the environment. If she smokes and drinks heavily, eats a heavily toxic diet, etc. then those behaviors will contribute to abnormal physiological development of the embryo. No matter how the child that is later born lives, the development cannot be reversed and done over. Any given body may be able to eliminate an excess of toxins and focus on healing when large homeostatic imbalances no longer require the body to operate at such a highly stressed level, but healing takes time, and is always going to be limited by the time available for healing, the degree of irreversible developmental damage, the amount of biological aging, and so on. An alchoholic, for example, may be at a point where it is impossible for their body to heal the damage done by the lifestyle of the alchoholic. The damage from living such a lifestyle can extend so far as to impair those systems of the body involved in the healing process, in which case homeostatic balance spins out of control of the body. Emergency medicine is your best bet in such a case. But in situations that are not so dire, I think time, age and past development are the greatest limiting factors. You just have to continue living hygienically.
