I feel as though Ayn Rand does not adequately explain the libertarian paradigm (in fact, I see her as advocating something very different from what I consider to be the libertarian ideal).
If you want to understand economic and personal freedom you need to read the writings of authors like Murray Rothbard or Ludwig von Mises. You can read their works for free at the literature section of mises.org.
Some of my favorite books on socioeconomic theory are Man, Economy and State by Murray Rothbard, The State by Franz Oppenheimer, Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt and The Rise and Fall of Society by Frank Chodorov.
I would recommend starting with Hazlitt or Chodorov. They are short and very easy reads. The Rise and Fall of Society can be downloaded for free here:

For health I mostly read about the science of biology, physiology, evolution, etc.
