| Subject: | Fasting muscle loss/ thyroid ? (for Doug) |
|
Date: | July 18, 2012 at 6:21 pm PST |
Hi Doug,
I am a low fat cooked/raw vegan and I have currently put on 20+ lbs of
muscle within the last eight months along with a 8lbs of fat.
Lately my body has been telling me to fast but I'm afraid to do so because I
don't want to lose the muscle I worked so hard to gain.
Is there a way of fasting that has minimal muscle loss? I am an
experienced faster have previously done 28 day supervised water fast 1.5
years ago.
I would be doing the fast healing and detox reasons.
I was thinking about fasting between 5-12 days on distilled water.
What would you recommend or would you forgo fasting all together?
Over the last 3 years I have been recovering from adrenal fatigue/
hypothyroid and digestive issues
I am currently on armour thyroid 45mg and would like to get off it. I feel like
the thyroid medication which I have been on the last 7 months is stressing
my body and my adrenals.
My body has been in a state of fight or flight for the last three years and is
finally physically coming out of it. I have been having rofling done which is
helping my body learn how to relax again. Would fasting be too stressful
given my current state an history?
I know intuitively for my body to fully heal. I must complete surrender. I
have always been a fighter and know that has caused my past fatigue.
I am 5ft 8in, 140lbs and around 20bmi.
I feel I can afford to loose between 10-20 lbs of fat. I use to weigh around
120 when I felt my best I. The past.
I do yoga daily, strength training 1-2 time a week and 30min cardio at least
4x a week and get 8+hours of sleep per night and take naps when needed.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you for your time!
