| Subject: | Major issue with greens- What to do? |
|
Date: | July 18, 2012 at 3:26 pm PST |
I have been 100% raw for over 3 years and 100% 811 for almost 3 years.
I'm 5'3" and weigh 100 lbs.
I work out daily - walking, hiking, rebounding, yoga
I typically get at least 9 hours of sleep
After starting 811 I realized I was incredibly sensitive to all acid fruits and
over time, started to notice issues when consuming greens. Acid fruits cause
serious acne and hives and greens cause hives, eye styes and swollen,
(sometimes mucous filled) eyes. Because of this, my diet has been very limited
and I mostly eat sweet and sub acid fruits, melons and a very small amount of
tomatoes on occasion. Lots of bananas, mangoes, watermelon, tuscan melon,
peaches, nectarines, grapes, figs, cucumbers, fresh dates when in season and
I just bought some white and black sapote on monday.
I know how important greens are and really want to eat them. This is the
second summer in a row I've included a decent amount of greens and my eyes
balloon up and become sore and irritated. My second year of eating raw, my
eyes were loaded with styes for an entire year and made it difficult to even see
clearly sometimes which was pretty much hell. Once I stopped eating greens,
my eyes cleared up and I had no issues. If I started adding greens back in,
styes would start appearing.
I went about 6 months this year without any greens and did great. I just did a
3 day fast over the 4th of July hoping to heal my food sensitivities on a deeper
level but a week later I ate a big green salad, two days in a row, and my right
eye is a mess.
From what I've learned, my body is still too acidic to handle the acid fruits and
these foods have a strong cleansing effect. I don't understand the greens
issue though and need some advice on what to do. Greens would obviously
make me more alkaline but my body reacts so weird to them.
After my fast, I kept getting "melon belly" and needed celery to make it go
away 3 days in a row. I just chewed about 4 or 5 inches of celery to get the
juice and spit out the fiber. The next day, I felt tremendous pressure behind
my right eye and both eyes became extremely bloodshot after being nice and
white after the fast. Then I ate the lettuce for dinner a couple days later
(mixed baby greens one night and romaine the next) and the next day woke
up with a very red, painful, swollen right eye. The lower eyelid was swollen
about half way down my nose.
Most of my meals are mono meals and if I do mix foods, it's usually not more
than 3 ingredients, on a rare occasion maybe 5 ingredients.
I haven't been sick once since eating raw and have pretty much cured every
problem I ever had except for the food sensitivities and having severely dry
eyes at night when sleeping.
Unfortunately, I cannot do an extended water fast at this time.
Sorry this is long...just wanted to provide as much info as possible.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you!
