I had only been 811 two weeks prior and vegan before that but I was enjoying lots of seasonal fruit for two large meals a day and then my large salad in the evening. A week prior I doubled my greens during the day just to up my oxygen intake as I came into 811 with a low ferritin level. During the race they had rest stations with bananas, grapes and oranges which provided all the energy I needed; it was great (the green grapes were the best!). In the months prior to the race I was getting some knee straining and I wasn't sure if it was cramping so just in case during the race I did eat a tiny bit of salt since that was recommended to me since I had only been on 811 for two weeks. But I'm not sure I really needed it.
