You are right about emphasis on bananas and dates. They are a good staple for me, but one needs to add variable fruits to one's staples, fruits that change over the year. Tomatoes are another staple of mine. The ones that you mentioned are good variable fruits: blueberries, black currants, blackberries, and strawberries. Right now, I have red grapes in bulk as a variable fruit. I only buy one or two variable fruits by the case because that's all I can eat. I have been eating wild berries growing along the edge of our grass as a variable fruit. I have been buying squash and zucchini as variable fruits (things containing seeds) from an organic farmer, who is friends with the farmer for whom I volunteer.
