You really want to finish reading 811, and then read Nutrition and Athletic Performance. You will understand much better then how things work in your body regarding recovery.

In answer to your question, providing calorie sufficiency is still a requirement for hypertrophy. The high-protein approach is not, nor is it best, in my opinion, for a variety of reasons.

811 will give you recovery so speedy compared to any other approach that it will astound you. This means that you can train more often, gaining better results. You will also find that your endurance whilst training will improve dramatically on 811. This allows you to put more intensity into your training, and to get more done during each training session, while still recovering faster.

Not bad, eh? I work with some serious powerlifters and a few amateur strongmen. What sport are you focusing on?
