Just thought I'd share my latest foray into working on my weak links (although this feels much more like playing than working!). Previously I had played around with balancing on the rebounder (you know, balance on one foot with eyes closed on the unstable surface of the rebounder). That got old (and boring) fast.

Well, just this week I discovered hooping! I dropped in on a class Monday night and I am hooked! Of course, I am but a beginner, but I could clearly see how this is definitely neuro traning. I've always been comfortable with left rotations (ballet, figure skating). Well, of course, when I started hooping the other night I felt pretty darned puffed up that I could keep that thing spinning -- to the left! Change it up and try it to the right and bam! It kept hitting the floor. Add to that (either side) walking while hooping, turning while hooping, etc. and I looked like a herky-jerky uncoordinated who-knows-what! It was quite entertaining.

The teacher and advanced students made it all look so easy-breezy. They were doing all these fancy things with their hoops and I could barely grasp the basics. But, it was only my first night. I'm waiting for my hoop to be made so I can practice, practice, practice, and plan to keep taking classes at the community center throughout the summer. Maybe by the time I return next summer I'll be ready to progress to some of those fancy-dancy moves. :)

Anyway, just wanted to share. If you haven't like neuro traning in the past, perhaps you can find a fun way to incorporate it like I did.

By the way, just because my focus is now on neuro doesn't mean I've given up on sleep and emotional poise (the first two I really gave great attention to). I look at working on the weak links thing as a life long project -- something to keep life interesting! :)
