My advice? Don't eat them! :)

Unless you are eating the freshest of fresh dates they really aren't ideal anyway (remember, whole, FRESH, ripe, raw, organic plant foods).

Perhaps some day you'll come to find that you can eat them in moderation, but until then, I can only tell you what I would do in your situation, and that is to get them out of the house and stay away from them for the time being.

Personally, I only eat dates when they are in season, and even then, I pre-portion them into little ziploc baggies. During marathon training I might eat more, but last winter when I wasn't training (due to an injury), I only ate them two or three times while I was visiting Arizona (local, very fresh black sphinx dates). While the first few were wonderful, I found I couldn't eat more than that at a time because of the high sugar content.

Hope this helps and you find what works for you! :)

Not sure where you live, but for me, dates are not in season and I am loving what IS in season! :)
