If it was me, I would be seriously on 811rv, immediately.
If the doctors are sure this is a blood disorder, and not a spleen disorder per se, then it might be worth considering a fast. More details are required before I could fully comment on the efficacy of fasting at this point. You might also want to ask Alan Goldhamer for his thoughts on this matter, whether he would fast someone in your husband's current condition.
