Living at altitude won't harm you, no. You get used to it. There is a brief period of advantage when you come down, for sports or other physical advantage, but no worries about living at altitude. Some studies indicate an advantage to living high as the air is generally cleaner than low air. Living in a remote area has advantages, so some of the question has to do with how entrenched you are in the city, and how clean the air is there.
