I think you can see what I'm getting at.
DG: No, I don't.
The effects of DI water are to reduce the body's stores of minerals which are vital to our health.
DG: No, the effect of DI water is to hydrate the body, by adding water. Noting is being removed or reduced when water is added to the body.
It isn't a question of whether or not DI water is bad for you because it lacks minerals - yes you can and do get minerals from your food and the mineral content of regular drinking water is negligible as a source of dietary minerals itself.
DG: If we get our minerals from our food, if we don't lose minerals by drinking water, and, as you say, if it isn't a question of whether DI water is bad for you because of the lack of mninerals, how in the world can we then draw the conclusion that DI water is bad for us in any other way?
What is important is that you do not want to be stripping your body's mineral reserves.
DG: I wouldn't know how to strip my body's mineral reserves, but it certainly would not be by drinking DI water. I know how to not replenish minerals, but that would be by eating foods rich in empty calories. We don't rely on water for minerals, and don't lose minerals as a result of drinking water, regardless of the type of water.
