Every darkfield microscopist that I have ever spoken to has shown me slides or live cells directly under the scope that were identified as candida. They all tell me they see it in every client's blood.
The question is quantity, not existence, as far as I can discern.
I can't comment on the results you've seen with low fat vegan, as I really don't know exactly what you ate. Sometimes, if there are current health problems, the transition can be a bit slow, or even require professional guidance.
