The function of breakfast is to fill your specific needs at that time of day. Whether you primarily need water, sugar, or other nutrients is a decision you must make on a daily basis. Often enough, I skip breakfast entirely. The question regarding green smoothies for breakfast also depends upon what you put in that smoothie.
