Hi Alek, Congrats on embarking on 811rv! :) Basically, we all need to eat "enough" -- or as Dr. Graham likes to say, "Goldilocks" -- not too much and not too little. If, over time, you are unintentionally gaining or losing weight, you are eating too much or too little (however, if it is in short periods of time it's likely due to water shifts). Have you read The 80-10-10 Diet? There you will find a good approximation of caloric needs from which you can find what's right for you. Pages 167-169 addresses "How Many Calories?" In a nutshell, multiply your body weight (or your ideal/desired body weight) by 10 and then add whatever calories you burn through activity (maybe 200 or so if you're sedentary, 800 or more if you have a physically demanding job) and whatever calories you burn through exercise (maybe 300+ per session, depending on what you're doing). The book goes in to much more detail, but that's the gist of it. Does this help?
