Mark,
For the first two weeks of the fast I went to an institution located in Ohio. It was a shame, but the Dr.'s health took a turn for the worse when I arrived and so for the first two weeks I was paying too much for simply a bed and toilet. I ended up taking a bus home and finished off the 30 days at my father's place.
Fasting is more than the absence of food. It is a time of absolute rest and mental composure. Therefore, you would not be able to work during the time of your fast. The daily schedule looks like: sleep, water, bathroom, book/audiobook while laying down- repeat. The mental composure is the most difficult part and it is what finally broke me as I should have continued the fast for at least another 10 days but I allowed stress to overwhelm me.
I'll not suggest doing it alone since I do not know what sort of reactions and detoxs you may experience but on a personal note, if I ever need to fast again, I will do it alone since I know what to expect now.
On a side note, another difficult part of the fasting is the breaking of the fast once you start to eat again. Pacing yourself and providing yourself with good fruit is extremely difficult. I made mistakes during this time as well that prolonged my ailments.
Hope that this helps. If you have any questions feel free to ask. :)
-Rudy
