Apples would be problematic when malabsorbing fructose (which is the likely case in your case). Not only they feature excess fructose (free fructose to glucose ratio > 1), but also they feature sorbitol (a polyol), which further aggravates the fructose malabsorption problem. Malabsorbed fructose is subjected to fermentation by gut bacteria which causes gas and other symptoms.
Look for fruit that contains less total and especially free fructose than glucose. Ans such without fructans and polyols. Also high amounts of fiber introduced at once may cause gas besauce they also are subjected to fermentation.
