| Subject: | HELP! Clarification NEEDED |

I am very confused.
On one hand we have Durian Rider saying eat as many carbs as you wish for
and that your weight will balance itself out. That carbs don't make you fat
because of thermogenesis.
On the other Doug (correct me if I am wrong) says in order to lose weight you
must put in less than gets burned off, essentially eat less calories (or the
amount needed for your desired weight)
I have 2 sisters that have tried Durians method of eating as many carbs as they
want with little fat. One has gained 5 stone and the other 2. (ok I admit Im sure
they had a few slip ups on the amount of fat they ate but come on 5 stone -
now that it ALOT!). Durian has said to "chow down the carbs" and Ive watched
my sister chow down carbs until she is completely and utterly STUFFED - plain
potatoes and rice only to see her getting bigger and bigger.
I understand Durians reasons for this and I think once you are in a state of good
health - a speedy metabolism due to consistent exercise, putting the right
foods in your body, doing the right amount of exercise and having the right
sleep - yes I think that you could probably get away with eating more of the
(right) calorie source than should you be over weight, inactive and unhealthy.
But for some reason I just find it very very hard to believe. Does your body
REALLY burn off any unused carbs???? And can I really eat as many plain carbs
and not put on ANY weight???
I have absolutely nothing against Durian Rider and think what he is doing for
Veganism is amazing.
Please I need clarification on this once and for all....
