There is almost no fruit that I store in my fridge, with the exception of some berries, and fruit that I don't want to ripen quickly, such as avocado.

All my other fruit is on shelves, or on the steps to our upstairs, for staged ripening purposes.

You will not have fruit flies unless you have damaged or bruised fruit. They are attracted to the vinegar formed from fruit going off.
