Couple of suggestions: 1. I had a good experience with the Furman FIRST training program (you'll have to look it up through a search engine because this site is blocking the web address). It incorporates 3 hard runs (speed, tempo, and endurance, which seem to correlate with Dr. Graham's suggestion of frequency, intensity, and distance) and cross-training on the other days, which seems to correlate with Dr. Graham's suggestions of incorporating all 5 fitness factors: 1. Cardio, 2. Muscular Endurance, 3. Muscular Strength, 4. Flexibility, 5. Neuro. You may wish to check out the book Run Less, Run Faster, which is based on this program. Amazon has it and, again, I could not post the link here. 2. Might be worth it to seek out someone to consult regarding your running form, etc. I found a physical therapist in town who works with endurance athletes. He video analysed my running form, ran me through a battery of range of motion, strength, etc. tests and was then able to suggest exercises, etc. to address any imbalances. In what area do you live? Above all have FUN with your training, emily! :)
