Subject:         diet after appendectomy
Date: March 30, 2012 at 6:38 pm PST

Dear Dr. Graham and All,

my friend had an appendectomy a few days ago and was told not
to eat fruits, greens after the operation (esp. not raw, as
they cause intense bowel movements...). Instead she was
recommended to consume mashed potatoes, white bread and diary
products (!). She is quite confused and needs encouragement
in her choices.
Moreover now she is in a state of grief about the lost organ,
and worries a lot about the consequences.
Generally she leads an omnivorous diet, which she "always"
seeks to improve (eg. eating whole grains, less processed
food, more raw, drinking green smothies and "interested in"
our 811 diet).
What would you say?
Thank you very much!
