What does fat taste like? Which receptors taste fat, and which don't, or do they ALL taste fat, along with their other reception abilities? I could believe there are monitors in the brain that can get a sense of fat in the blood, perhaps, but taste buds, I know not of this. New science will continue to bring up new info, for sure, but this information was not part of my professional training. I have had too many people ask me if there was fat in canistel, mammea, and many other non-fatty fruits, and not know if there was fat in many fatty foods for me to think that we innately taste fat. Everyone recognizes sweet, salty, sour, and bitter, and those that know what umami is can taste it.
