Yeah, well, that's precisely what they (the CSIRO scientists)are saying...that there ARE receptors on the toungue that detect fat (they're calling it the 6th taste, if you also include Umami). In order for the brain to continually assess what we have been eating, it needs to be able to detect the substance at the site of tasting. It's not a big deal, really... it's just that in discussions I've often brought up the idea that we don't even have taste receptors for fat, to back up the concept of a low fat diet. If this isn't true, I won't be using that point again.
