Subject:         Dr. D - I was wondering what you think about the spraying for mosquitos in Central America?

I've heard that malaria and dengue, transmitted by mosquito, are common in Central America, and the problem is often solved by spraying chemicals in the environment. I'm wondering of your opinion on the issue. Do you approve of the chemical spraying? Or would you rather have malaria and dengue increase in prevalence?

I've often heard people describe Costa Rica as a "pristine" environment, but that doesn't seem to really be true if there are chemicals sprayed all over the place. I don't know much about this issue, and am hoping you could explain a little bit about it. Thanks. :)
