What I said was that we have no taste receptors for fat, and on that, I stand firm. We do have receptors in the brain that continually assess what we have been eating. It is the brain that "tires" of eating a specific food, whereas it is the taste buds that tell us if that food has one of the 5 "tastes."
I believe the distinction is clear enough not to belabor it here.
It is true that all the taste buds can sense all five tastes, but they are very clearly distributed in specific areas of the tongue according to the tastes that they are most able to sense, as well as in order of the tastes we are seeking to consume or gag upon.
