I was wndering how come Tim Van Orden eats no more than 2500-2800 calories when training 100+ miles a week. The guy is superfit. And on a few interviews he say he eats between 1500-2000 calories day an it was his average measured during a week.

Is there any reasonable explanation to so low caloric requirement?
