Okay, well, perhaps Dr. Graham will weigh in if he feels the need, but, in the meantime, here's my opinion for whatever it may be worth (or not!). We are all free to eat whatever we want, Mangoes. If that's salt, so be it. As Dr. Graham and his wife have so elegantly put it in Making Friends With Your Food, "There is no right or wrong, but there's ALWAYS consequences." For me, the consequences of eating salt are not the ones I wish to have in my life (for me, it is a noxious flavor, burns my mouth, causes edema and thirst -- not worth it). In short, I've found that salt does not love me back, and I am taking Dr. Graham's lead on nurturing relationships that love me back. Something else that Dr. Graham said in Making Friends is that, "In any time and in any way that you compromise to any degree any one of the needs of your body, then you are compromising the level of health you COULD experience if you didn't do that." For me, I don't need scientific "proof" that something is not good for me. The way it makes me feel is proof enough. Perhaps you, too, will get to a point where you decide that salt just isn't worth it to you anymore. Or, maybe not. For me, I am striving toward listening to my body's cues and feedback and going from there. And, for me, 811rv as laid out in The 80-10-10 Diet is what's giving me the "best" feedback/consequences thus far -- when I stray , I get near immediate feedback/consequences (such as last week when I consumed unripe kiwi and burnt my mouth/tongue -- I had heard/read not to rush your fruit and let it ripen fully, but I guess I had to experience it for myself anyway!). Anyway, "just me" rambling here. I hope you find the answers you are looking for.
