| Subject: | Demodex mites as the cause of rosacea / killing them off? |
|

I've had great success so far eating 80/10/10 (with only minor slip-ups once in a while, mainly salt/spices/quinoa/rice/beans). My GI issues such as IBS and acid reflux have improved dramatically. Acne breakouts on the skin have become more rare.
However, I am still suffering from bad rosacea which makes the surface of my facial skin look rough. As a male in my 30s I am willing to accept some signs of aging but not this overall roughness, enlarged pores, pustules, redness etc.
Soem sources suggest that an overpopulation of demodex mites can be a cause of rosacea. How will a 80/10/10 diet help kill the mites? The treatments recommended online include herbs, spices, garlic, infrared sauna, sauerkraut, low-carb diet, anti-inflammatory diet, tea tree oil or sea salt topically, grapeseed extract, oil of oregano... The list goes on making me confused as many of the suggested ways are not 80/10/10 - especially the advice to avoid sugars. Yet I hear many people have cured rosacea on this diet. What has been the deciding factor in those cases? Would a water fast help balance things out?
Or should I just "wait and see, my body knows best what it is doing" like with many other symptoms? I just feel that if the problem is with mites my body cannot kill them off by itself.
I am in Thailand now eating fruit but getting depressed as my skin hasn't shown any sign of improvement despite the amazing food and climate.
