Most folks wait for the black sapote to become extremely soft before eating it. Some are sweet, but most are not very sweet at all. The skin is edible, but not wonderful, so I usually just eat the fruit, and not the skin. It is rather enjoyable cut in half and eaten with a spoon, like a pudding. Combine it any way you wish. It is a relatively neutral combiner.
